Motivation Monday!

“Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.”

Motivation Monday

16 Jan

I studied Philosophy in college and this Aristotle quote depicts one of my favorite concepts. It’s the idea that to get where you want to be   (i.e., excellence in any sense whether that’s your health, relationships, career, organizational skills, you name it) it’s about doing small things everyday that lead you there. It’s about creating a practice or trend of choosing and doing things that lead us to excellence and make us excellent in the doing of them. I think this is great because it alleviates the pressure of having to have all the answers or be at your goal weight or in your dream job right this instant….instead feel accomplishment for the things you did today that are leading you to your goal.

I think we can all agree that Aristotle is a pretty well regarded thinker 😉 and he believed we are all capable of excellence if we just focus on making a habit of doing small things everyday that lead us to our big dreams. If you make this concept a practice I promise you’ll be at those big dreams before you know it!

Happy Motivation Monday!

Motivation Monday: Fitspiration!

“If you worked out when you were first thinking about it…you’d be done by now.”

Oh my goodness, I tell myself this… All. The. Time. There are just some days where I will find any reason to delay going to the gym. Then, I’ll look at the clock and think, “Seriously, did I just spend an hour procrastinating? If I would have just gone to the gym when I was first thinking about it I’d be done by now.”

The reality is once I’m at the gym I’m always happy I went and I leave feeling energized and accomplished wondering what I was thinking putting it off.

*Tip: Since I like to workout in the morning, my favorite way to combat that procrastination is to set out my workout clothes the night before. If I know I’ll being hitting the gym in the afternoon I pack a bag the night before and put it by the door. *

So here’s to getting our workout on and endorphins going when we’re first thinking about it!

Motivation Monday: Sami is absolute inspiration! She’s a blind cross country runner!

I found this article via a few pinterest boards then on thedailywhat. I think this girl is so incredibly inspirational to inspire anyone to do what they want and not let anything get in their way. Love this!!! No Excuses!!!

Inspirational Motivational of the Day: Sami Stoner loves to run. When the Lexington, Ohio teen was diagnosed with Stargardt disease — an inherited juvenile macular degeneration — she knew she would soon be declared legally blind, and her parents thought that part of her life was over.

But tenacious Sami wouldn’t give up, launching an effort to convince the state to let her and her guide dog Chloe join her school’s cross country team.

With the help of Athletic Director John Harris and head coach Denise Benson, Sami eventually managed to obtain a precedent-setting waiver from the Ohio High School Athletic Association, allowing her to run with Chloe. ”As I told John, she already has a handicap,” said OHSAA’s cross country director Dale Gabor. “She doesn’t need another one, so let her run.”

Sami was put on a 20-second delay to prevent Chloe from tripping other runners. And she is only allowed to participate as a non-scoring competitor. Still, it’s a start.

And Sami couldn’t happier.

“I don’t run for time or place or anything,” she said. “I run because I love it.”
